The pilot program was such a success that we're starting a new
Paws to Read series. This unique reading program improves children’s literacy skills and gives them a great sense of accomplishment. How does it work? They read to dogs. Yes, dogs! Children who sign up will have the opportunity to read to guide dogs or registered therapy dogs. The dogs volunteer with their owners. Children sign up (for any or all dates) at Children's Library or by calling 329-2436 (select the
Children's Reference option) or emailing
librarychildrensservices@cityofpaloalto.org.
Children will read for 20 minutes. The programs will be held at
Children's Library from 2:30 to 3:30 pm on the following Saturdays:
- July 12th
- August 16th
- September 20th
- October 18th
- November 15th.
