Hooray for Women!

March is Women's History Month. There's a great display of books up at Children's Library for you to check out.

The Amelia Bloomer Project has come out with its list of books for 2008 that expand the role of girls and women beyond the traditional. You can look it over here. (Thanks to the KidsLit blog for posting about this.)

Who was Amelia Bloomer, anyway? We have several great books about her. One is a new biography by Mary Lickteig that you can reserve here. Another is a wonderful picture book called Bloomers! by Rhoda Blumberg that you can reserve here. And still another picture book, You Forgot Your Skirt, Amelia Bloomer! can be held here.
