Great new audiobooks!

Looking for some entertainment during that long flight or car trip this holiday season?
Try out a few of our newest children's audiobooks! From classic literary characters to plucky new heroines, there are some wonderful audiobooks at the Palo Alto City Library branches.
Here are a few of my recent favorites: (click on the title to place a hold)

Peter and the Secret of Rundoon: This third (and reportedly final) installment in the series by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson is full of excitement, suspense, humor, and all around fun. Narrator Jim Dale (of the Harry Potter series) is one of the best around.

The Higher Power of Lucky: This novel, by author/children's librarian Susan Patron is the winner of the 2007 Newbery Award for excellence in Children's Literature. The heroine, Lucky Trimble, is my favorite female character to come along since Ramona! Patron creates unforgettable and very real characters in this wonderfully touching story.

The Spiderwick Chronicles: If your kids love fantasy, this short series by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black is a must-read. It follows the three Grace siblings as they move into a new house, only to find it occupied by brownies, boggarts, fairies, and other mysterious creatures. The audiobook version includes all five of the Spiderwick Chronicles books. This series is sure to be a hot item soon, as the film version of the books will be released into theaters in February 2008!
